REESE On February 12, 2014 Reese went into the hospital to have a liver transplant. All liver transplants are a big deal but the babies usually make it in and out of the hospital in less than a month. Reese turned out to be different. His fight has been LONG and hard, breaking records for longest stay in ICU, most expensive and other records that we pray will never ever be broken. Everyone around here had Reese on their mind and followed the story of his hospital stay. The days turned into weeks and weeks turned into months. Finally, late one afternoon on June 6, the foster home van came splashing through the puddles of our driveway and stopped. Out of the van Reese emerged, in the arms of his nanny, to a well-deserved hero's welcome. Now that Reese is home we need to work on getting him strong and healthy enough to have his tracheotomy procedure reversed. His story so far has been amazing indeed, but there is more to come, and we are so glad that we get to be a part of it. |
ADOPTIONS & SURGERIES New Day South hit a record in May and June with four children adopted. That would be Fisher, Kate, Charlie, and Sally. Esther and Tessa Joy were adopted from our Beijing facility. Nine children had surgery. Selah, Noelle, Anna and Thad had heart surgery. Thad also had a GI surgery. Reese and Albert had liver transplants. Chloe & Polly had Gi surgery. Oliver had an orthopedic surgery.

WHAT'S NEW? Children, Project, Kitchen Our new arrivals are Judah, Charlotte, Eli, Enya. Hope, Thad, Polly, Bing Bing, New Project- An orphanage in northern China was having a difficult time keeping their children healthy. With a 15:1 ratio is was nearly impossible to give the children the love and care they needed. As one nanny said, "What these babies really need is love. But we can't give it to them...I have ten babies to care for and I spend most of the time taking care of the daily needs, not loving them. If each of us only had three babies to care for, we could do it, we could love them. But ten? It's impossible and it makes my heart sad." Inspectors determined that the kitchen in our Beijing facility was too small and needed an upgrade. Thanks to Cummins we were able to renovate and build a state of the art (five star) kitchen that will be able to accommodate all our needs and feed our kids like they were king's kids.
