Newsletter - Bejing | ND North

April, 2014

A special thank you to each one of you who has joined with us to make a difference in the children's lives. We could not accomplish this- saving and changing lives if it weren't for you. Thank you from each of the staff on behalf of the children.

Minus the ventilator

REESE'S FIGHT

How valuable is a life? Can you put a price tag on it? How much should we spend on one little guy?

Whenever someone like Reese (liver transplant and over a month in ICU) comes through our doors we are faced with these questions. We have spent lots of money on him and there still is no guarantee that he will make it.

We all (New Day staff, prayer partners, nurses, doctors, donors & Reese) continue to fight for his life. How fragile life is. There were scary moments - some that happened without our knowing. The doctors didn't tell us that Reese stopped breathing twice during extubation trials. They didn't tell us that he crashed - flatland - and that they had to resuscitate him while scrambling to set the ventilator up again - twice (a scary 5-minute process).

Read more about Reese's Fight for Life.

A FATHER'S LOVE

There is something special about a father's love and we celebrate with Maya, Joel, Rachel, Wendy and Stella who now know what it means to be loved by their very own father.

Ari back in the hospital

A NEW LEASE ON LIFE

We welcome Nora, Jack, Ari, Robert, Anna and Chloe who now have the hope of a new beginning of health and love.

Just days after arriving, Jack and Nora were able to have surgery. Jack is still recovering from his surgery but Nora has set the record for the shortest stay following heart surgery. In just six short days she was released from the hospital!

Ari and Robert both had neurology surgeries. After complications Ari had to be readmitted to the hospital where he is waiting for another surgery. Robert has recovered well from his surgery.
