Happy Chinese New Year!

When in China do as the Chinese. The kids had a great time celebrating this most important holiday in China. Getting ready, decorating the house, having a couple of Jiaozi parties and wishing the nannies a Happy New Year.

And oh yes, not passing up any excuse to celebrate something, the kids did some neat things for Valentines Day.

This month we celebrated birthdays for Jesse & Wendel, (both turn one) Jabez who turned two (can now legally attend preschool, he would always try to escape from his nanny and attend even though he was too young) and Jeff who turned four.

Jesse and Jeremy recently had surgery. Jesse came through two major heart surgeries and has a pretty amazing story to tell. The details are on the website. Jeremy had lung surgery which did not go too well ¨C the doctors did not think he would live. However, ten days later he experienced a miraculous recovery and was released from the hospital. He is doing great to everyone's joy and amazement.

At this time Camille & Simon are in the hospital having surgery on their cleft lips. Their palate surgery will be scheduled when they are one year old.

Since August 2002, 66 kids have been adopted. Three of the most recent ones are James, Abby, who is leaving on Sunday and Jacob. Jacob, you might remember, was the little guy who came to us malnourished with pneumonia and infection that spread to his heart and caused it to enlarge. He spent a month in ICU. When he finally was able to come home he was so weak and fragile. The plan was to get him strong enough for heart surgery - the doctors thought maybe after a year. But miraculously after just one month when he went back for a check up he was completely normal and did not need anymore medical attention!

It was also our experience with Jacob that moved us to start a formula project in his orphanage and the Taiyuan orphanage. We are very pleased with the success of these projects. This month we are beginning two more formula projects in Jingdezhen & Leping.

We would like to introduce three of our newest arrivals Gordon, Sara, and Andrew.

We purchased a new van for the project in Tacheng and just about each time we speak with them they tell us how much they love it.
