Name: Cole
Birthday: February 1, 2006

On February 1, 2006, little Cole was born. Five months later he was found in the hall of a public building. He was left with a bag that had a note with his birthday, some clothes, milk powder, and money. After an unsuccessful search for his parents, he was taken to the local orphanage where he was diagnosed with a congenital heart disease (TGA, VSD, and a Pulmonary Artery Defect). His condition was quite serious, but two surgeries in January of 2007 restored his health. Now Cole is a happy little boy who makes friends with everyone. We are so happy we were given this opportunity to make a difference in his precious life.

On January 11, 2007 Cole was finally well enough to have surgery. The four hour heart surgery was the first of two that he will need. Since his main arteries are switched the left ventricle needs to be retrained to be able to handle high pressure. So the one artery had a band placed around it to restrict the flow and a shunt was placed. If things go well he will have the second surgery in two weeks.

The ventricle retraining went very well and two weeks later Cole was able to have the second surgery.
The seven hour heart surgery was a very complicated surgery. The main arteries had to be switched and the VSD and two ASD's closed. There was deformity of the coronary arteries which caused some difficulty and toward the end of the surgery they were having difficulty stopping the bleeding. In spite of all these problems the surgery went well and the surgeon was happy with the results.
Cole now has the opportunity of living a normal healthy life. We would like to thank everyone who helped make this possible- thank you for funds donated and for all the prayers offered on his behalf.

Cole is finally home after his two major surgeries. Grace and I were a bit nervous about seeing him, what would his reaction be? After each of the last two times we saw him he had a major surgery. We didn't have to worry- as soon as he saw us he gave a big smile and wanted to be held.
Cole is very thin and weak, which is not surprising after two major heart surgeries, but his hands and lips are no longer blue. With love and good care he will be better in no time.
