Healing Home > History

In 2007, we were asked to provide temporary care for orphans from a remote region of China in need of heart surgery. These children, already being cared for by another organization, simply needed access to the quality medical care available in Beijing and a place to live while they recovered from surgery. At the same time, we were being faced with increasing numbers of requests to help critically-ill children from our partner orphanages across China ¨C requests we were not always able to accommodate due to limited bed space.

New Day Healing Home was launched in early 2008 in answer to needs such as these. By focusing our efforts on surgery and recovery, we are now able to provide life-saving medical care to more children each year.

We took in our first four children in a one-bedroom studio apartment adjacent to the Foster Home in the summer of 2008. We completed renovations on a three-bedroom apartment just down the road from the Foster Home in December 2008. With bed space for up to nine children and an average stay of four months, New Day Healing Home is able to provide upwards of 25 surgeries each year.
