Sweet Evelynn’s life was too short; only four months, and only three weeks of it here with us at New Day Foster Home.

With a serious GI disease and a heart defect, the organization caring for Evelynn knew that her chances were not good, and they had several other children with the same GI condition to care for too. They called us, asking if we could take one of the children, to try and get a liver transplant for them. They gave us the choice of which child, and we chose the one whose condition was the most serious. Then we gave her an English name that means ‘life’, and fought for her as best we could.

The news that we woke up to on Sunday morning was not a surprise, but it was a disappointment. So many times we have seen miracles and life when there seemed to be no hope, but sadly, this was not one of those times. We had longed for Evelynn to have an Amazing Story, not a memorial card.

Still, we bring our sadness and disappointment to the feet of the One who writes
amazing stories, knowing
that He is always good.
We are thankful for the
privilege of caring
for Evelynn. We wish
that her story had
turned out differently,
but still we choose
to hold onto hope.
