Name: Brett
Birthdate: August 5, 2004

Brett was found abandoned at the gate of ChildrenĄ¯s Hospital on November 16, 2004 and taken to the local orphanage. At the hospital he was diagnosed with a heart disease, Tetrology of Fallot. On January 11, 2005 he came to join us at New Day. We immediately rushed him to the hospital because he was in stress. This precious little one not only has a serious heart disease but also pneumonia, bronchitis, a hernia and boils.

 March 22nd Brett began running a fever so we took him back to the hospital. He has pneumonia again and the doctors said this will continue till he has heart surgery. A consulting heart specialist was brought in but in spite of gaining a pound it was determined Brett is still too weak to have surgery.

On Thursday the hospital did some blood tests and it was determined Brett inherited Cytomegalovirus and Epstein-Barr virus from his mother. We are now consulting with the hospital to determine the plan of action. This precious little one has so much to overcome.
After a month's stay in the hospital Brett's pneumonia, weight and strength had improved enough to have heart surgery.
On April 21, 2005 Brett had his long awaited surgery. There were some complications in the beginning- but we are happy to report it was successful. He is now doing well and improving daily.

On Sunday Sept. 17th Brett met his adoptive parents for the first time. This was a very happy occasion- Brett went from dying twice to having his very own family to love and care for him. With five sisters we know he will get plenty of this. We were all emotional as he left with his family- our job was done and he was now stepping into the next stage in his life.
